Dien Bien Airport is about to close for 6 months

The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam has just had a meeting with representatives of leaders of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the Vietnam Flight Management Corporation (VATM)… to agree on the implementation progress and closure time of the airport. Dien Bien to serve the construction of work items.

Accordingly, the parties have agreed to close Dien Bien airport to serve the construction of works from February to August 2023, the maximum closing time is 6 months.

The People’s Committee of Dien Bien province has also agreed that the projects invested by ACV will be completely completed and put into operation before August 2023. While the works invested by VATM will complete the construction before February 2024, complete the relevant procedures and put into operation on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory.

On January 22, ACV kicked off the construction and expansion project of Dien Bien Airport. The project will build a new runway with size of 2400mx45m, turnstile at 2 ends, cement concrete structure, ensuring the operation of A320/A321 aircraft or equivalent; At the same time, building connecting taxiways, CAT I approach lights…

The passenger terminal is designed with 2 floors with modern and harmonious architectural lines. In which, the first floor includes: lobby roof area, departure passenger area and arrival passenger area; The second floor is the lounge area, business class living room, commercial services and ancillary areas for exploitation.

The investment and construction project to expand Dien Bien Airport is a group B project, a grade I traffic work, with a total investment of more than VND 1,467 billion from ACV’s capital.

The site clearance work with a total investment of 1,555 billion VND from the budget of Dien Bien province has been implemented, ensuring the progress and consistent with the approved detailed planning.
