Gasoline price reduced by 700 VND/liter

On the afternoon of March 21, the Ministry of Finance – Industry and Trade decided to adjust the retail price of petrol every 10 days.

Accordingly, E5 RON 92 gasoline decreased by 655 VND/liter, gas price RON 95 is adjusted down 700 VND/liter. After the increase, the maximum retail price for gasoline E5 RON 92 is 28,330 VND/liter and RON 95 gasoline is 29,120 VND/liter.

Thus, the domestic gasoline price fell for the first time after increasing 6 times in a row since the beginning of the year until now. Previously, from the first oil price management period of the year (January 11) to the March 11 operating period, there were 6 periods of increasing prices.

The price of gasoline of all kinds increased from 4,625-7,030 VND/liter/kg (depending on the type of petrol), equivalent to an increase of 24.9-39.6%.

Not only gasoline, the price of oil products in this operating period was also adjusted down relatively sharply. The selling price of diesel oil is currently 23,633 VND/liter; kerosene is 22, 245 VND/liter and fuel oil is 20,423 VND/kg.

In this adjustment period, the inter-Ministry of Finance – Industry and Trade set aside a price stabilization fund for E5 RON 92 gasoline at 200 VND/liter, the stabilization fund with RON 95 gasoline at 50 VND/liter, and kerosene. 300 VND/liter, diesel 400 VND/liter.

In the past time, the “hot” increase in gasoline prices is having a negative impact on economic recovery, people’s lives, macroeconomic situation and inflation control.

While petroleum supply in Vietnam continues to have a shortage due to the Nghi Son refinery and petrochemical plant cutting capacity.

In order to control gasoline prices, the Government proposes to reduce 50% of environmental protection tax on gasoline and oil. Accordingly, a reduction of 2,000 VND/liter of gasoline, 1,000 VND/liter/kg for diesel, fuel oil, lubricants, grease and 700 VND/liter for kerosene. This level is expected to take effect from April 1.

If this resolution is approved by the National Assembly Standing Committee, the gasoline price from April 1 will be reduced by 2,200 VND/liter (including VAT) and the oil price will also be adjusted by 1,100 VND/liter.

On the afternoon of March 23, the National Assembly Standing Committee will consider and pass a resolution on the environmental protection tax rate for gasoline and grease until the end of December 31.
