Today’s pepper price in the domestic market continued to move sideways in some localities, trading from 78,500 to 81,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, today’s pepper price in Gia Lai, Dong Nai is the lowest in the market at 78,500 VND/kg.

Pepper prices today in Dak Nong, Dak Lak provinces (79,500 VND/kg); Binh Phuoc (80,000 VND/kg) and Ba Ria – Vung Tau at the highest threshold is 81,000 VND/kg.

According to Dak Lak Newspaper, farmers in Cu M’gar district are entering the peak of pepper harvest. This year, pepper is priced much better than every year, but farmers are still less happy because the yield is low, and the ripening is uneven, so it takes a lot of work to harvest.

Cu M’gar district is one of the localities with a large pepper area of ​​the province with 2,433 hectares, of which more than 1,860 hectares are for business, concentrated in Quang Phu town, Cu Sue and Ea Tar communes. Ea K’pam, Cu M’gar… Currently, farmers are focusing on harvesting pepper, the harvested area has reached about 60%.

If every year, hiring workers to collect pepper becomes a worry for many pepper growers, but in this crop, the labor force to harvest pepper is quite abundant, mainly local people and from other neighboring districts.

According to pepper growers, the local labor hire price has not changed compared to the previous year. A pick-picker costs from 180,000 to 200,000 VND/day. Many gardeners also support petrol for remote workers and snacks for workers.

After many years of record low prices, this year, in the market of Cu M’gar district, the price of pepper at the beginning of the crop reached more than 80,000 VND/kg, now it is 79,000 VND/kg. Everyone is excited in their hearts. However, productivity dropped sharply, making people less happy.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Cu M’gar district, the pepper productivity of this crop in the whole district is estimated to decrease significantly, about 20-30% compared to every year. The reason is that in previous years, with low prices and high increase in agricultural materials, many farmers neglected and did not “strongly” invest in fertilizers and tend to degrade their gardens.

In addition, at the time of the rainy season in 2021, there will be prolonged heat waves that affect the growth of pepper plants.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Van, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Cu M’gar district, said that the price of pepper this year has increased significantly compared to previous years. However, farmers are still less happy because the prices of input materials such as fertilizers, pesticides, petrol… have all increased, so they “narrow” their profits.

In addition, for a long time, pepper has had a low price, many farmers are not interested in investment and care, leading to a sharp decrease in productivity. The district encourages people to focus on investing and renovating orchards to improve productivity and value on an area of ​​land; restore orchards in areas suitable for pepper growth.
