Startup Aquarian Space announced on March 17 that it plans to connect high-speed internet between Earth, Moon, and Mars in the future with a signal strong enough to play 4K video. Aquarian Space aims to deploy the first communications system on the Moon by 2024. The company’s plan is to create a service in space Solnet, built on a network of commercial satellites that transmits high-speed data at high speeds (100 megabits per second), much faster than the speed of the average internet in the US.

“By 2021 there will be 13 landers, orbiters and rovers on and around the Moon,” said Kelly Larson, CEO of Aquarian Space. “By 2030, we will have about 200 vehicles, creating a billion-dollar lunar economy. But this cannot happen without a reliable channel of communication between the Moon and Earth.” .

Aquarian Space is conducting technical reviews with a number of companies participating in NASA’s Commercial Commodity Services (CLPS) program, along with other companies in the United States and abroad that will launch missions to the Moon.

CLPS will bring more cargo, landers, and scientific equipment to the Moon in the late 2020s through support from the Artemis program. According to Aquarian Space, customers do not need to change the design according to their technology. However, the company has not disclosed the technical details, the type of satellite to be used as well as how to launch the satellite into space. In addition to high-speed Internet, Aquarian also plans to track space junk, space weather, and provide scientific information from the Moon and Mars.
