The Ministry of Transportation asked local governments to strengthen construction management in the context of building houses for residents and planting illegal trees on the North-South toll road.
In a document dated March 20, the Ministry of Transportation stated that 12 regions have a North-South Expressway that passes through: Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, and Can Tho. , Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang, Ca Mau.
According to the Ministry of Transportation, from March 13 to 15, the Ministry coordinated to submit design documents for the first phase of the cleaning pile for component project sites with a total length of 133 km and will continue to hand over locations. the remaining section areas before 30 June. This is the basis for local cleanup, support and resettlement.
The Ministry proposes provincial and municipal People’s Committees to immediately establish a Steering Committee for Compensation, Support and Resettlement; establish a Location Permit Board or focal point to carry out related procedures. The local government appointed a consultant unit to survey, measure, calculate, establish investment projects to build resettlement areas… right after the Ministry submitted the design and ground clearance documents. .
The 12 areas with roads were asked to mobilize the community to support investment policies and deal with violations decisively. The Project Management Agency will submit the current status file and photographs during the survey to the regions as a basis for managing and handling violations.

On January 11, the National Assembly approved the investment policy for the North-South East Expressway project for the period 2021-2025, with a total investment of VND 146,990 billion. The 729 km long project is divided into 12 component projects in the Bai Vot (Ha Tinh) – Cam Lo (Quang Tri), Quang Ngai – Nha Trang and Can Tho – Ca Mau sections; Basic progress was completed in 2025 and commenced operations in 2026.
The government has asked the regions to compensate, support, resettle and identify construction solid waste disposal, ensuring the handover of 70% of the land area for construction and installation packages starting before 20. At present, the North-South Highway is in the process of project preparation, but there are situations of people building and expanding the work, illegal tree planting, use the land for purposes that are not within the scope of the project for profit.
