Doctor Tran Van Phuc, Saint Paul General Hospital (Hanoi) said that our country has passed the peak of the epidemic. As proof of this, Mr. Phuc cited daily reports showing that the number of cases nationwide is slowing down markedly and the trend is decreasing. Hanoi is the same, if 10 days ago it was always over 30,000 F/day, recently it has decreased a lot. “It can be said that Hanoi has passed the peak of the epidemic.”

“Recently, the number of patients who need a doctor’s consultation has also decreased a lot. Before the above parameters, it can be said that Vietnam has reached the peak of the epidemic and is showing signs of going down. Hanoi or other provinces other shows through the peak of the epidemic”, BS Phuc said.

Dr. Truong Huu Khanh, former Head of the Department of Infection – Neurology, Children’s Hospital 1, Ho Chi Minh City, also said that Vietnam passed the most difficult time when it overcame the peak of the COVID-19 epidemic during this period.

“Not only did F0 decrease every day, but the number of severe cases and patient deaths also decreased significantly. We, like a number of other countries, have the Omicron strain overrun, then peak and then recede. Therefore, it can be said that after a long time of continuously recording a high number of COVID-19 cases, now we have surpassed the peak of the epidemic and cooled down. Moreover, the characteristic of the Omicron strain is that although it spreads quickly but is very mild, the F0 level is still high, but the number of cases requiring medical intervention has decreased. BS Khanh emphasized.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Association for Infection Control, also said that the number of daily COVID-19 cases in Hanoi and the whole country is showing signs of slowing down. This shows that Vietnam has passed the peak of the epidemic. This result is due to Vietnam’s recent promotion of vaccination work, improving vaccine coverage. Therefore, although F0 is high, there are no signs of overloading the health system as well as severe patients, and mortality is reduced.

It is forecasted that in the near future the COVID-19 epidemic in our country will decrease much. Before the mutation of Omicron strain causing mild disease, plus high vaccine coverage, we should consider opening more activities for socio-economic development. Even bar services, karaoke or beauty salons, spas… can all be opened in the current period. In particular, we should send our children to school directly, stop online learning so that children can develop to the fullest. We should also not be too dependent on whether to vaccinate children or not.

Many other experts also said that Vietnam has passed the peak of the epidemic. Authorities should consider being more bold in allowing activities to reopen, it is important to send children to school early.
