journal The Economist Citing a survey by the Varkey Foundation, a London-based educational institution, conducted in December 2017 in 29 countries, including Vietnam, admitting that parents in developing countries spend more time helping their children learn than parents in developed countries.

In Vietnam, parents spend an average of 10 hours a week helping their children with homework or reading to their children, ranking 2 out of 29 countries surveyed, just behind India. That fact stands in stark contrast to parents in countries like Finland and Japan. They only spend an average of three hours a week helping their children learn. Only 5% of Finns help their children with homework at least 7 hours a week, while 31% do nothing.

The survey above shows that Vietnamese parents play a large role in most of their children’s work, from studying and working to marriage, making friends, raising children… In this case, the seminar speaker – Dr. Dao Minh Hong will present special research data as well as his views on Vietnamese parents, especially Gen Z – 7x parents, 8x generation parents.

In a new context, new methods are needed, so that the school-family relationship is now very different from before. From the point of view of an educator, Dr. Hong will evaluate the cooperation between parents and schools in educating their children. How should the two sides exchange and coordinate to achieve the best effect for their children?

As a well-known speaker, as well as the parent of two children from Generation Z and one from another, Dr Hong also revealed more stories between him and his children, as well as his personal experiences in raising children.

The last part of the discussion is a solution, a suggestion for parents to care how much their children have enough.
