18-year-old student attacked the school he was attending, killing 2 women, the principal was shocked

On March 22, international media reported that an 18-year-old student attending a high school in the southern Swedish city of Malmö was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Local media reported that the suspect was armed with a knife and axe, although police have yet to officially confirm the information. The two victims in this murder were employees at the Malmö Latin school, they were taken to the hospital for emergency but did not survive because of their injuries.

At the time of the incident, there were about 50 people at the scene, including students and teachers. Police said they received a tip about a “suspected serious crime” on the afternoon of March 21 (local time).

Upon arrival, emergency services found two injured people there. Petra Stenkula, police chief of the Malmö region, said:It is with great regret that two people have lost their lives in this terrible event and our prayers go out to the family and friends of those who lost their lives.“.

According to Swedish media, the perpetrator is said to have called himself to confess to killing two people. Police evacuated the school and examined the scene, but there were no signs of any other perpetrators.

Teachers and students told local media that police entered the school armed and ordered to keep them in the classroom for several hours. Schools are still locked down. It is known that many police cars and ambulances are still at the scene.

“This is really terrible“, principal Fredrik Hemmensjö told Aftonbladet newspaper when there was a murder at the school.

Police say they are still trying to figure out the cause behind the incident. Åsa Nilsson, police chief north of Malmö said: “There is still a lot of work ahead to draw conclusions and motives for this terrible incident“.

Police will hold a press conference on March 22 to provide more details.
