In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency in Seoul on this issue, Mr. Ly Xuong Can, Vietnam’s Tourism Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, said that in the past time, the Korean community living and working in Vietnam has suffered many difficulties. due to the isolation regulations to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic. Many people with urgent family jobs are unable to return home. Therefore, from March 21, South Korea removed the 7-day self-isolation policy for people entering from Vietnam, which is very good news for the nearly 200,000 Korean community in Vietnam. However, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently designated Vietnam as a “quarantine-enhanced country” and accordingly is not entitled to quarantine exemption. According to Mr. Ly Xuong Can, this will cause difficulties for the Korean community in implementing business plans, production and organizing commemorative activities.

Meanwhile, many Koreans also expressed their opinions directly on the website of the Korean Presidential Palace, expressing their disappointment when Vietnam was excluded from the quarantine exemption. One opinion expressed: “Even though Vietnam has a high number of COVID-19 cases, the mortality rate and severe cases are very low. Currently, the rate of booster shots in Vietnam is very high. Vietnam is also reviewing it. to deploy the 4th injection. Therefore, it is necessary to reconsider the epidemic prevention regulations for Vietnam”.
