Attending the Congress were: Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Department; Mr. Le Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; comrades leading the departments, ministries, branches, mass organizations in central and Hanoi; local leaders; Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, representatives of Japanese organizations in Vietnam.

Nearly 150 delegates, representing provinces/cities of the Association, units directly under the Association’s Central Committee nationwide, public figures, intellectuals, businesses… attended the Congress in direct and direct form. line.
The Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association was established very early (April 23, 1965), has passed 6 terms, nearly 60 years of operation, the Association has made many important contributions to cultivating the relationship between Vietnam and Japan. friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.

Speaking at the congress, Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Committee, emphasized that the Congress was held in the context of Vietnam-Vietnam relations. Japan is developing well, comprehensively and substantively with high confidence.
Japan continues to be Vietnam’s leading economic partner, the largest official development aid (ODA) cooperation partner, the second largest foreign investor, and the third largest tourism partner. and fourth on commerce.
In addition, cooperation in the fields of education, defense and security, human resource development, climate change response, and cooperation between localities has achieved many positive results through many important mechanisms. , as well as strengthening cooperation at multilateral forums of the United Nations, ASEAN, APEC…
The two countries have also cooperated in the prevention, control and mitigation of the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, achieving many results.
Up to now, the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Japan has over 450,000 people, making it the second largest expat community in Japan. People-to-people and cultural exchanges are closely coordinated, large-scale and pervasive.
Comrade Truong Thi Mai affirmed that the Vietnam – Japan relations are at the best stage ever and there are still many potentials and opportunities to continue to expand and deepen the friendship and trust that have been established. have been.
“This is a great achievement after the continuous efforts of the two countries over the years, including the contribution of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association,” said Comrade Truong Thi Mai.

Praising and appreciating the important achievements that the Association has achieved in the last term, Comrade Truong Thi Mai affirmed that the Association has had many rich, practical and effective activities… making very important contributions. in enhancing the friendship, mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples, contributing to consolidating and developing the relationship between the two countries and effectively implementing the foreign policy of the Party and State. .
Associations at all levels from the central to local levels have actively and creatively acted as a bridge to enhance exchanges between the two localities.
Comrade Truong Thi Mai said that the new term is the inheritance of contributions from many generations, officials and members of the Association, contributing to the better development of relations between Vietnam and Japan.
Comrade Truong Thi Mai pointed out that, within the framework of the “Extensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia” relationship, the Association needs to continue to strengthen and expand the network of partners, improve the effectiveness of cooperation. cooperation between people’s organizations of the two countries.
Especially activities of solidarity, friendship and cultural exchange, creating a strong spillover effect, attracting the large participation of the young generation and people of all walks of life, so that the friendship between the organizations, localities and people of the two countries have become more and more profound and sustainable.
With the strength that the Association has many members who are dignitaries, intellectuals, managers, scientists, diplomats, businessmen, the Association needs to strongly promote its role in promoting cooperation in all fields. between Vietnam and Japan, especially in high technology, health care, education, human resource training, digital transformation, environmental protection, response to climate change…, strengthen support support of the Japanese people for our people’s work of building and defending the Fatherland and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
The Association also needs to mobilize businesses, intellectuals and young people, especially Vietnamese people living and working in Japan, to participate in people-to-people diplomacy through various forms. suitable.
Pay attention to developing and promoting the active role of member organizations in the local Association; strengthen coordination with the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group, the Young Parliamentarians Group, and other organizations to contribute to improving the operation efficiency of the Association.

Comrade Truong Thi Mai believed that the Congress would elect the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the President of the Association for the new term, continue to lead the Association to achieve many successes, and make practical contributions to the relationship between Vietnam- Japan continues to develop to new heights for the benefit of the two peoples, for peace, stability, cooperation and sustainable development in the region and in the world.
At the congress, the delegates elected the Executive Committee consisting of 62 members, the Leadership Board consisting of the President, 5 Vice Presidents and General Secretary, and the Inspection Committee of the Association consisting of 3 members.
Mr. To Huy Rua, former Politburo member, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Committee, and Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association was trusted to continue to be elected as the President of the VII Association.
On this occasion, the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association received the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister.
