The Halal food and beverage industry alone accounts for 56% of the value, equivalent to USD 1.369 billion and is expected to grow to USD 1,972 billion by 2024 with a growth rate of about 6.3%.

Minister Mohamed affirmed that Malaysian businesses are also willing to share experiences and know-how to help Vietnamese businesses easily access Halal certification.

Notably, the upcoming Seagame 31 held in Vietnam will welcome many tourists wishing to consume Halal certified products. This will be an opportunity for cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia to build a Halal ecosystem commensurate with the potential between the two countries.

As the co-chair of the Committee, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien expressed his wish that the two sides should soon agree on the contents of the program and promote technical meetings to prepare for the official meeting of the Committee.

Agreeing with this idea, Minister Mohamed also hopes that the annual meeting of the Joint Committee will be held as soon as possible.

In addition, the Malaysian minister proposed to discuss methods to reduce the trade deficit, and the Malaysian side studied potential new products of Vietnam that could be imported into the country.
