Relatives beg to come to the crash site of the Chinese plane
Relatives of those on board plane MU5735 hoped to come to the scene to check on the progress of the rescue, as authorities had no clue about the crash.
Chinese rescue forces today had to suspend search for survivors and the black box of China Eastern flight MU5735 crashed due to heavy rains that lashed the area. Rainwater flooded the crater where the plane crashed, and at the same time created the risk of a landslide, threatening search forces.

Police in Kunming and Hunan have met with relatives of the victims on the flight, asking them to provide DNA samples for forensic examination. In Dang district, the father of an 18-year-old male student who was on the flight said he and two other family members were not allowed to enter the village near the crash site.
“We don’t want to make things difficult for the authorities, but we need to understand the situation,” the father said. “Please let us go to the scene to check the progress of the rescue. If my son is still alive, let me see him. If he is dead, let me see his body one last time.”
Xiao Fang, from Guangzhou, said his friend had a brother on the flight and asked him to go to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on the afternoon of March 22 to inquire more about the search operation, as his family is in Kunming.
“Totally helpless, the airline didn’t answer any questions. They asked us to stay and wait,” Xiao Fang shared. “He is the breadwinner of the family, taking care of his aged mother, young wife and one year old son. They are very sad now.”
Xiao said police went to the male passenger’s home in Kunming to collect DNA samples from the mother on the evening of March 21, but did not provide any information. “Families need more help,” he said.

Mr. Wen, from Wenshan City, Yunnan Province, was also patiently waiting for news of his wife. “My wife was on the flight, she went to Guangzhou for work. She is 22 this year, we have only been married for five months,” Wen said, adding that the whole family was rushing to move there.
