Rich series of activities for the 6th Italian Design Day in Vietnam
The Italian Design Day (IDD) was launched in 2017 by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and is celebrated in more than 100 cities around the world.
The main purpose of this day is to promote the history and modernity of Italian design, share experiences and ideas with partners worldwide, encourage the exchange of innovative best practices and international cooperation.

The theme of IDD this time is of great importance for the times: “Reinvention, design and new technology towards a sustainable future”.
The event will start from March 25, whereby, Hanoi National University of Civil Engineering will organize an online seminar with the theme of IDD 2022 and its applicability in Vietnam. Here, architect Marco Lambri – Italian Design Ambassador in Vietnam in 2022, Design Director of Piaggio Group will give an important speech on industrial design and transformation.
The seminar had the participation of famous speakers such as Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Duy Hoa, Rector of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonio Alessandro and UNESCO Representative in Vietnam Mr. Christian Manhart.
The conference will be Livestreamed on the Facebook page of the Italian Embassy (www.facebook.com/ItalyinVietnam) and on the Zoom platform (https://us06web.zoom.us/j/88464649151).
In Hanoi, the following events will also take place: Vespa and Piaggio Design Exhibition (March 25-26, at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering); Movies Enrico Piaggio. An Italian dream (March 25 at Casa Italia, 18 Le Phung Hieu).
In the city. In Ho Chi Minh City, from March 25-27, an exhibition of iconic objects of Italian industrial design will be held in the lobby of Caravelle hotel with the contributions of Piaggio, Eurasia Concept and Ly Gia Vien.
Design can help recreate our habitats and transform our cities by combining elements of innovation, culture, technology and sustainability.
This year’s discussion topic will also accelerate the preparation of Rome’s candidacy as a candidate to host the World EXPO 2030 with the proposed theme: “People and territory: Regenerating the city market, integration and innovation”.
IDD 2022 is also the launch platform for Il Salone del Mobile di Milano – Furniture Fair that will take place in Milan on June 7-12.
Design is also one of the prominent areas in the social media campaign Italy – Extraordinary from simple things: beIT currently taking place in 26 countries, including Vietnam.
The Italian Design Ambassador to Vietnam in 2022 graduated with a degree in architecture from Politecnico di Milano, specializing in industrial design. In 1999, he joined the Lancia Style Center and the Alfa Romeo Style Center in 2001. In 2005, he joined the Piaggio group as the Style Director for Vespa and Piaggio. Since 2012, he has been the Senior Vice President of Design design, leading in the creation of a wide range of vehicles, including motorcycles, scooters and commercial vehicles, for all of the group’s brands (Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Piaggio, Vespa).
