In an interview with CNN television, he said that the Russian military did not attack civilian targets and that the occupation was not one of the goals of Moscow’s special military operation in Ukraine.

The press secretary of Russian President Peskov also emphasized that this operation is taking place in accordance with the tasks and plans set out from the beginning. He said: “The campaign was conducted strictly according to the plan and the mission set out in advance. This is a serious operation with serious goals.” Russian officials insist that the Russian military is not allowed to harm civilians.

Earlier, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a call for help from the leaders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in eastern Ukraine. He stressed that Moscow’s plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories, but are aimed at demilitarization and neutrality of Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry insists that the Russian military does not attack cities, but only disables military infrastructure, so there is no threat to civilians.
