The ruling will prevent Navalny from participating in active political activities for many years to come.
In addition, Mr. Navalny, who has been convicted of contempt of court and is currently serving a two-and-a-half year sentence in a detention center in East Mocow, was also fined 1.2 million rubles ($11,535).
The character has denied the latest criminal case against him is politically motivated and has pleaded not guilty.
Meanwhile, the European Union (EU) and the United States have criticized the Russian court’s ruling.
“We reiterate our call to the Russian authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Mr Navalny,” said Josep Borrell, the EU’s high representative for foreign and security policy.
On the same day, the US said that this was an attempt to distract public opinion from Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine.
Moscow has not yet commented on the above reactions of the EU and the US.
