On March 23, the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City opened a first-instance trial against defendant Nguyen Van Kiet (43 years old, born in Kien Giang) on ​​the charge of “Murder”.

According to the prosecution, around June 2019, Kiet and his wife, Nguyen Thi Kieu D., moved from their hometown to Tan Tuc town, Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City, rented a motel room to work as a housekeeper.

After that, due to the rainy season, Kiet went back to his hometown to work in the fields, while Ms. D. stayed in the city to work. In August 2019, Kiet returned to work and was told by some co-workers that Mr. Doan Van Duy Han Anh was a co-worker in the project who had an emotional relationship with Ms. D. Kiet checked his wife’s phone. I saw that there was a text message between the two of them.

Suspecting Mr. Han Anh and Ms. D. had an illicit relationship, Kiet asked his wife to take a break from work and then both moved to Thuan An city, Binh Duong province to open a noodle shop.

On September 5, 2019, Kiet’s son got sick and had to go to Thuan An City Hospital for treatment. Due to lack of money, Kiet let his wife stay to take care of the children while he returned to his hometown to sell rice and get supplies, including a hammer with the purpose of cutting bones and selling noodles.

On September 8, 2019, Kiet received a phone call from his son, grandson Nguyen Tien D., reporting that he did not see his mother and brother at the hospital, where he is currently unknown.

On September 10, 2019, he rode a motorbike from his hometown, when he went to Binh Chanh district, he received a phone call from a friend, who worked as a general assistant, informing that Ms. D was staying with Mr. Han Anh at a guest house. Hotel in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City.

Immediately, Kiet ran straight to the hotel where his wife and lover were staying, rented a room and sat at the front desk to wait.

At 2:30 p.m. on the same day, when he saw Mr. Han Anh going down, Kiet walked over and said, “Bastard, do you know my son is seriously ill, but hide my wife and children like that”. However, Mr. Han Anh did not say anything but pushed Kiet out to get the car to go home. Angry, Kiet opened the box on the car, took the hammer and slashed many times at the enemy lover. Panicked, Mr. Han Anh ran away, still being chased by Kiet to cut again.

Only when the victim ran into a nearby house to hide did he stop and leave for Binh Duong.

As for the victim, due to being taken to the emergency room in time, fortunately, he escaped death but suffered more than 72% injuries.

Because Kiet fled, it wasn’t until September 7, 2020, that the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency arrested him under a wanted warrant.

After the incident, Ms. D. had disappeared, leaving 2 children for her parents-in-law to raise. At the police station and at the trial, the defendant sincerely confessed to committing the offence.

The victim is Mr. Doan Van Duy Han Anh admitted that he had feelings for Ms. D. and had many two people in the hotel have sex.

Considering that, the defendant’s criminal behavior is particularly dangerous, causing social disorder. However, the victim was also partly at fault, so, after considering, the jury decided to sentence the defendant to 7 years in prison.
