Messaging applications (chat) are increasingly popular and necessary in the lives of Vietnamese people.

On March 21, VNG (“father” of the Zalo messaging application) cited a survey by Decision Lab in the fourth quarter of 2021, saying that Zalo continues to hold the No. 1 position in connecting relationships. Specifically, when asked which application to use to contact their loved ones, 48% of survey respondents gave the answer as Zalo. Meanwhile, this figure of Facebook and Messenger is 27% and 20% respectively.

Also according to the survey, Zalo is considered by 33% of online users as the main application in daily life, an increase of 10% compared to the third quarter. This proves that Zalo is increasingly popular and necessary in the lives of Vietnamese people. Meanwhile, Facebook fell 5% from 44% to 39%, YouTube remained at 20% compared to the previous quarter.

In addition, according to data published by Zalo, in 2021 alone, with 70 million regular users, Zalo has helped transfer 620 billion messages, 52 billion minutes of video calls, 14 billion urgent notifications about COVID-19 , helping people promptly respond to the complicated developments of the pandemic.
