Before the team match Vietnam vs OmanAFC’s website writes:

“The Vietnamese team is aiming to win at home. They had their first victory when they overcame China in the previous round. Currently, Vietnam is only 2 points behind China.”

“On the side of Oman, they have not won since defeating the Vietnamese team in the fourth match. Coach Branko Ivankovic’s team seeks to finish in fourth place on the rankings.”

After losing to Oman in the first leg at the end of last year, the Vietnamese team lost 3 more matches to extend the losing streak to 7 matches.

However, things seem to be changing in a more positive direction, when coach Park Hang Seo’s team defeated the Chinese team 3-1 in the last match.

The victory has created a premise for the Vietnamese team to get out of the bottom of the table.

AFC commented: “Thanks to the victory over China in the 8th match, the Vietnamese team not only had the first victory over its neighbor, but also won the first point in the third qualifying round of the World Cup.”

“Another victory at home can help coach Park Hang Seo’s team get ahead of China, if China loses to Saudi Arabia, in the context that Saudi Arabia wants to win tickets to this World Cup match” – AFC further analysis.

According to the Asian Football Confederation, the performance of the Vietnamese team is now better than in the first leg, because the players of Coach Park Hang Seo have returned to playing professionally.

The AFC website said: “With the V-League having recently returned to play, Vietnamese players are ready for the match against Oman at home.”

“With Oman, they are 4th in Group B, 3 points ahead of China and Oman will end the World Cup qualifying campaign with a match against the Chinese team in the final match.

Oman once shocked with a victory over Japan on the opening day of the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia.

But since the victory over Vietnam, they only know how to draw and lose. They have experienced 2 losses and 2 draws since then” – still the lines written on the AFC homepage.
