Mr. Dao Huu Duy Anh was born in 1988, graduated with a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Cambridge University, UK.

In an interview with the Companion in 2018, this young President revealed many stories about himself and his work at Duc Giang Chemical.

Winning a scholarship from Cambridge University and spent years studying abroad in one of the most expensive cities in the UK, but every summer vacation, Duy Anh returns to Vietnam and spends almost the entire time. This is the time to get acquainted with the family business from the very beginning.

Like other international students, Duy Anh once intended to stay and work to experience and gain experience in the world’s leading corporations before returning home. But the work experienced during the time of returning home for summer vacation and Tet holiday made the international student change his plans for the future.

“At that time, my thoughts were also very dreamy, I wanted to work for McKinsey, I wanted to work for foreign businesses… But when I returned to see my parents over 50 years old, they still had to move constantly to build and manage houses. machine, I feel so bad.

The last summer in England, before deciding whether to return or stay for a few more years, I once stood in Harrods – London’s most expensive neighborhood. Everything is flashy. But I suddenly realized that life in England has never really been fun, because there is no family here. Only when I return to Vietnam for summer vacation or Tet holiday in Vietnam, I feel happy when I come home”, Duy Anh confided.

In 2009, Duc Giang established a subsidiary, Duc Giang Chemical – Lao Cai, at Tang Loong Industrial Cluster, Bao Thang district, and started the largest phosphor factory in Vietnam (with a capacity of 40,000 tons/year). That summer, Bao Thang regularly 40 degrees.

Duy Anh’s first job at DGC was as a concrete worker, then as a worker at the raw material factory. All have to work 8 hours a day. The factory is not finished, the machinery and equipment has not been installed, the young worker has to directly contact coal, shovel apatite into the sieve machine. “It was an unforgettable summer,” the young deputy general manager then recalled.

Returning after years of studying abroad, Duy Anh’s first official job in Duc Giang was as an assistant to his father – Mr. Dao Huu Huyen.

“My parents said that if you want to do well, you have to do the smallest things. So I worked as an assistant for my father, then worked in the research and development (R&D) department, then in charge of the export business, and then worked in the export business. new project with an investment value of 2,000 billion VND. You have to manually choose the technology, choose the buyer, find the seller, everything has to be done.”

The professional environment and knowledge learned in the UK, and the working environment at a state-owned enterprise are very different. For example, when Duy Anh proposed to apply management software such as ERP, SRP to digitize production and business activities, many people doubted that turning all books into data on computers.

Duy Anh’s motto is to combine both the realities of business and the advantages of foreign models. The leader of 8x said that the transition process between the state management process and the private company model cannot be 100% foreign management to apply. Vietnamese enterprises have many unique characteristics that foreign managers cannot take into account.

With the advantage of foreign languages and specialized knowledge of Chemicals, Duy Anh was initially in charge of the export of chemicals, which is the main source of revenue for DGC. The proportion of DGC’s export revenue according to the data in the report of Tien Phong securities company TPS in the 3 years from 2019 to 2021 is 78%, 78% and 72%, respectively.

In addition, Duy Anh is also in charge of key personnel with the view: “Many individuals here are like me, starting from workers, standing machines, managing production crews, production shifts, workshops. , factory… Those who have the ability to advance very quickly, like Dang Tien Duc entered the company at the age of 23 and became the Deputy General Director in charge of engineering at Duc Giang – Lao Cai factory at the age of 24. especially a director in charge of phosphoric acid production line with sales of 600 billion dong, born in 1990”.

In an interview in early 2021, Duy Anh shared about his management method. “The factory directors are all talented. They are international Olympic gold medal winners, some of you have PhDs in chemistry. Cambridge students, Polytechnic engineers … are the leading people in the field of engineering, we must have a firm grasp of the technique, if we say it right, others will hear it.”

Up to now, the young leader has been with Duc Giang for more than 11 years, participating in 6-7 chemical plant projects. During that process, Duy Anh fully participated in the selection of technology, techniques, contractors, operating equipment and then it was time to test the factory… He shared: “I learned from my father passion with chemicals and careful Business. That is not something everyone can have, my father is 65 years old but he is still very passionate about the chemical industry and has many aspirations for Duc Giang in particular and for the development of Vietnam’s chemical industry. Vietnam’s chemical industry is almost zero, we want to contribute to change the chemical industry in Vietnam.”

Most recently, Duc Giang Chemical Group Joint Stock Company announced the Resolution of the Board of Directors to establish Duc Giang – Dak Nong Chemical Company Limited, in which DGC accounts for 100% of the contributed capital and Dao Huu Duy Anh is the representative. capital contribution of DGC in Duc Giang – Dak Nong, and is also the Chairman of this enterprise. Dao Huu Duy Anh has officially become the Chairman of a subsidiary of DGC at the age of 34.

Owning a large number of stocks with great value, but from an interview with Companion in 2018, Duy Anh shared:It really doesn’t feel any different because assets on the stock market don’t appreciate what they have.”

In contrast, the young leader considers one of his most valuable assets to be his financial advantage language – both technical and academic – to be able to exchange trends and technologies with leading foreign professors and engineers, to understand the general trend of the world chemical market, thereby to know the face of the world. goods are in short supply, have production advantages and high profits.
