‘If you want to play, young players must prove themselves’

Coach Park Hang Seo has prioritized using the old squad, with the old people in the 0-1 loss of Vietnam against rival Oman. The Korean military leader only used one player at the age of U23, Bui Hoang Viet Anh, in the starting lineup. Explaining the fact that young players have not been allowed to play regularly in the Vietnamese team, Coach Park Hang Seo said that if they want to play, the students must prove their ability first.

“In terms of opportunities for young players, we always think they have no chance. But think about it, the players themselves should give me a chance to judge them. They have to prove themselves in training and practice. The question is not that the coach doesn’t give opportunities, but the players have to prove themselves, it will be easier.

The presence of U23 players has a certain meaning. It is important for them to have a clear understanding of the team’s tactics. We will soon face Japan away from home. It is a team at the top level of Asia. The decision whether to use young players or not must be followed“, Coach Park Hang Seo shared.

The 63-year-old leader also affirmed that the players played to their best, but the results were not as expected. The Vietnamese team created many scoring opportunities, but they all missed them, before losing the final 0-1 with the only goal on the corner kick.

Losing the 8th match in 9 matches in the third qualifying round, the Vietnamese team missed the opportunity to take China’s 5th place. In the last match, Park Hang Seo’s teachers and students will face Japan – the team that is temporarily at the top of Group B with 21 points after 9 matches played.

The Vietnamese team had difficulty in terms of force when Nguyen Tien Linh was injured (not sure if he could return in time), and Nguyen Thanh Chung was suspended. However, coach Park Hang Seo confirmed that the team will not call more players, and “as many kicks as you can” in the closing match against Japan on March 29.

“Regarding the force situation, the suspended Thanh Chung will not accompany the whole team to Japan, and Tien Linh will have to wait for the test results. Van Lam will join the team in Japan.

The problem of adding personnel is very difficult because it takes time to make a visa. Some of them have it but they can’t check their form, so I won’t call up any more players. As much as the team has, they will use it as much as possible“, Coach Park Hang Seo concluded.
