RT Citing an announcement on March 23 by Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov of the Belgorod region, Russia, an artillery shell from Ukraine exploded in this area. Belgorod is located relatively close to Kharkov, Ukraine’s second largest city.

In the announcement, Governor Gladkov said shells from Ukraine exploded in a village. The injured “are receiving all necessary assistance” and details regarding their condition will be announced soon.

“In order to ensure the safety of the people of Zhuravlyovka and Nekhoteevka, the Belgorod government has declared a state of emergency for the two villages,” Gladkov said.

Regarding the incident, Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin instructed his subordinates to “thoroughly investigate the incident, take comprehensive measures to identify all responsible parties”.

This is not the first time ordinary people in Russia have been affected by the campaign military Moscow opened in Ukraine late last month, according to RT.

On February 24, after Russia launched the operation, seven houses and one car in Belgorod were destroyed in explosions. Later, the Russian Investigative Committee determined that it was alleged that the Ukrainian armed forces had carried out shelling in the Belgorod region. Three people, including a child, were injured in the incident.

Three days later, two shells, which Russia accuses of being fired by Ukrainian forces, landed in an open area in the village of Nekhoteevka.
