On the morning of March 24, the Hoi An City Police said that now, there are Zalo accounts pretending to be Mr. Tran Anh – Secretary of the City Party Committee and Mr. Nguyen Van Son – Chairman of Hoi An City to make friends with other accounts. for nefarious purposes.
The subjects accessed the personal pages (real accounts) of the leaders of Hoi An City to collect information, take personal pictures and create fake Facebook and Zalo accounts.
The crooks take the same account name, use the stolen image as their profile picture, and then make friends with many people on the victim’s friends list (mostly within the agency).
After that, the subjects texted to inquire and create trust with those who had just made friends to borrow large amounts of money or transfer money to “service the work of the agency”.
This amount is often required to be deposited into someone else’s bank account number or account number with a similar name to the leader they acquired online.
Hoi An City Police advise people to be vigilant in order not to be deceived by scammers.
