The truth is that the photo of a panda as an “ambassador” from China to Japan is “diplomatic”,

In 2019, a Vietnamese social networking site posted a photo of a beautiful baby panda sitting with a man on an airplane as a “genuine” passenger. The photo was posted with the caption: “This baby panda was sent from China to Japan as an ambassador for the friendship between the two countries. On the flight, instead of being locked in a cage under the animal compartment, the bear was “specialized” “Sitting in the cabin, with my carer, wearing a seat belt, wearing a diaper and enjoying the bamboo leaves during the flight”.

The photo quickly attracted the attention of many netizens with 18,000 likes, more than 5,400 shares and nearly 2,000 comments. Netizens can’t help but “melt” with this lovely and precious moment.

If the photo and the story are all true, then this is indeed a happy, positive story that, amid all the sensational news circulating on social media, has to put a smile on people’s faces. Yet sometimes, unverified information on social networks makes people “convinced”.

In fact, this photo appeared on the Internet since 2006, specifically on a humorous website called Guzer.com and its origin is unknown. In the same year, it was shared on the Japanese Yahoo Blog with a description showing: “Pandas are on their way to their new home in the US on a Chinese plane.”

The photo appeared on the Internet since 2006.

Two years later, the photo reappeared with the caption believed to be a “press release” from China Airlines:

“China Airlines is proud to be the sponsor of the panda sanctuary in Chengdu, and we were pleased to recently help transport a baby panda to a zoo in the US.

After consulting with veterinarians at Sanctury, it was concluded that the baby panda could not be kept in the cabin, where its needs were not met. As a result, China Airlines agreed to give a seat in first class (business class) to a panda named Squee and its caretaker, Fu Jiang Lang, seen here sitting in the seat next to him. window side.

For hygiene reasons, Squee wears a diaper during the flight. We’re happy to announce that Squee has landed safely, rested and relaxed after the 14 hour flight, and is settling into a new home. During the flight, he didn’t watch any movies because we couldn’t find a headset big enough for him. He was served his favorite dish of bamboo leaves.”

Since then, from time to time, this photo has been shared on forums and social networks (not only in Vietnam) with other stories but no one can distinguish the real from the fake.

In fact, this photo fooled many netizens. Many people believe that to be true, just because the “press release” line is attributed to China Airlines.

But, take a closer look at the photo. The nose of this panda is round, completely different from real pandas, their nose is triangular.

The news site Hoaxorfact also said there is no reliable information about a panda named Squee that was sent from China to the US. This site believes that the scene in the photo is just a staging, meaning the panda in the photo is not a real bear. The stories surrounding the photo are even more unreliable.
