AM NEXT, AeroMobil’s second light-aircraft hybrid supercar, will launch in 2027. The vehicle can switch between the two modes in less than 3 minutes. The airline hopes the plane-sharing service will help passengers save considerable time when traveling 160-805km between major cities.
According to AeroMobil, passengers can enjoy the convenience and comfort of a door-to-door shuttle service. However, the airline has not disclosed the price of the flying taxi model as well as the sharing fee for passengers.
AM NEXT is the follow-up to AeroMobil’s 4.0 flying car, first unveiled at the Paris International Air Show held at Paris – Le Bourget airport in June 2017.
Model 4.0 is designed as a luxury 2-seater personal flying vehicle that can fly at a maximum speed of 360 km/h. The maximum speed when traveling on the road surface of the vehicle is 160 km/h. In addition to the high price of 1.3 to 1.6 million USD, owners also need a driver’s license to use the aerial vehicle. Meanwhile, AeroMobil has yet to reveal the specifications of the AM NEXT service.
AeroMobil says carpooling is estimated to be worth $70 billion a year in North America alone. With the new flying cars, the company aims to make private transportation more efficient and end traffic congestion.
According to AeroMobil, their flying car technology uses existing infrastructure. The car is the result of more than 10 years of research and development by a team of engineers and designers from leading supercar brands such as BMW, Aston Martin, McLaren, Mercedes Benz and Ferrari.
