President Moon Jae-in’s senior assistant in charge of public communications Park Soo-hyun quoted Moon as saying, “I am the outgoing president and President-elect Yoon is the next president. hold a meeting so that the two sides can send greetings and advice. It’s not like we’re negotiating.”

South Korean officials planned a meeting between incumbent President Moon Jae-in and President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol last week, but it was postponed at the last minute because of working-level discussions in advance. The meeting is not complete.

Yoon Suk-yeol of the People’s Power Party (PPP) won a narrow victory over candidate Lee Jae-myung of the ruling Democratic Party (DPK) in the presidential election of South Korea on March 9.

Since becoming the president-elect of South Korea, Mr. Yoon has not been able to have any official contact with the incumbent leader Moon Jae-in.

It is expected that the inauguration ceremony of Mr. Yoon Suk-yeol will take place on May 10.
