Vietnam are in the same group as Japan at the Asia U23 Championship
Based on the results of the grouping of the final Asian U23 2022 group division, Vietnam is in the same third group as Japan, Qatar and Iraq.
The final series of fixtures of the 2022 AFC U23 Championship ended on the evening of 2 November, identifying the 16 teams participating in the final round, including hosts Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Australia, South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Iran, Iraq, Jordan , Thailand, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Vietnam. The 16 teams were divided into four groups for the draw to divide the groups as follows, based on the team’s performance in the 2020 AFC U23 Championship.

Vietnam was eliminated in the group stage of Asia U23 2020, thus dropping to the third group along with three other teams with a similar situation, Iraq, Qatar, and Japan. In other words, Vietnam will not be able to enter the same three-team group in the 2022 AFC U23 Cup, because teams in the same group will not meet.
Uzbekistan is the host, so they are placed in group one, along with defending champions Korea, runners-up Saudi Arabia and third team Australia.
Group two consists of Jordan, Thailand, UAE and Iran, where the first three teams have already qualified from the group stage of Asia U23 2020. And Iran has the highest record of being eliminated from the group stage.
Group four consists of Tajikistan, Malaysia, Kuwait and Turkmenistan. These four teams did not attend the final of the previous tournament.

Vietnam qualified for 2022 AFC U23 Championship top spot in Group I, with two matches winning 1-0 first Taiwan October 27and Myanmar on 2/11. This is the fourth consecutive time the team has attended the final, and the third time in a row under coach Park Hang-seo. The team’s best achievement was runner-up in 2018.
The 2022 AFC U23 Championship will take place from June 1 to June 19, with 16 teams divided into four groups. The draw date has not yet been announced.
