Why hasn’t HCMC allowed F0 to go to work yet?

On the morning of March 24, Ho Chi Minh City officially let F1 go to school and work with attached conditions to limit the spread of Covid-19 disease.

At the press conference on the afternoon of March 24, Mr. Nguyen Hong Tam, deputy executive director of the Center for Disease Control of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the city has allowed close contacts (F1) to go to school and work. These F1s must have had enough vaccinations or have had Covid-19 within 3 months.

At the same time, monitor your health for at least 10 days, test on the 5th day or when you have symptoms. F1 moves from accommodation to places of study and work by personal means, avoiding close contact with people in risk groups, wearing masks, disinfecting….

However, HCMC has not yet allowed F0 with no symptoms or mild symptoms to go to school or work like some localities (Long An, Ca Mau).

According to Mr. Tam, the Ministry of Health has proposed for F0 to go to work, but only in 2 situations and with some special conditions. Specifically, on a voluntary basis, F0 can work online or in the F0 treatment area, strictly implementing infection prevention measures.

Not all F0s are offered a job with many conditions attached“, said Mr. Tam.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huynh Mai, Chief of Office of the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City added, currently with F0, the Ministry of Health instructs to be treated in isolation at home or at the hospital, there is no new update.

The city’s health sector still regularly assesses the situation of infections Covid-19severe cases, and deaths in the area, closely following each case with severe changes at hospitals.

Mai said that although the number of deaths from Covid-19 in the city is decreasing at a very low level, the number of severe cases has not decreased sustainably. Specifically, today, the city has 84 severe Covid-19 patients being treated.

“One thing is for sure, an increase in the number of infections will lead to an increase in the number of severe cases and deaths. That is a very clear experience through the epidemics. Therefore, all proposals of the Department of Health must be derived from the practical conditions of the city.”

Mai emphasized that the consultation contents of the Department of Health with the City Steering Committee for Epidemic Prevention and Control aim to control the epidemic well, ensure security and social order, and develop the economy.
