3 toll road projects help accelerate the economy of the Central Highlands

The Dau Giay – Lien Khuong, Nha Trang – Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Nong – Binh Phuoc highways, when formed, contributed to promoting economic and social development in the Central Highlands.

The Central Highlands cover more than 54,500 square kilometers, more than 5.8 million people (2019 statistics), including Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, and Dak Nong. Compared to other regions, the region still faces many difficulties when the people’s standard of living is low, the shortage of skilled workers, and the infrastructure is slow to develop.

However, the Central Highlands have natural resource advantages, with 2 million hectares of fertile basalt land (covering 60% of the country’s basaltic land area), developing industrial crops such as coffee, pepper and tea. . In order to promote the economy, tourism, attract investment, connect the Central Highlands and the South and Southeast Central region, toll road projects are being invested and built.

Highway Dau Giay – Lien Khuong with a total length of more than 201 km through the two provinces of Dong Nai and Lam Dong. The project is divided into three investment segments including Dau Giay to Tan Phu (Dong Nai); Tan Phu to Bao Loc (Lam Dong) and Bao Loc to Lien Khuong.

The section from Dau Giay to Tan Phu is 61 km long, the first point intersects with National Highway 1, coincides with the end point of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway, the end point intersects with National Highway 20 in Phu Trung Commune, Tan Phu district. This road has a scale of 4 lanes, a road width of 17m, with a total investment of 7.369 billion VND, under the Ministry of Transportation.

It is expected to start construction this year, part of Phu Trung commune, Tan Phu district to Nguyen Van Cu road, Bao Loc city along 66 km (55 km in Lam Dong region). The road will be built with 4 lanes for cars and two lanes for emergency stops. The project has a total investment of over 16,200 billion VND, under the public-private partnership (PPP) method, with state capital.

The remaining section is 73.9 km long, with starting point at Nguyen Van Cu road, Bao Loc town and ending point at Lien Khuong – Prenn highway, Duc Trong district. The project with a total investment of 12,500 billion VND, follows the PPP method and is divided into two phases. Where, the first phase (2022 – 2025) will build 4 car lanes with a width of 17 m, with a speed of 80 km/hour. The second phase (after 2030) will be expanded to 8 lanes, with a speed of 100 km/h, with emergency stop lanes.

Expected to be completed before 2025, the Dau Giay – Lien Khuong toll road will connect the traffic system between the Southeast and Central Highlands provinces, relieve pressure on National Highway 20, and create a driving force for socio-economic development in the Vietnamese region.

Located in the center of the Central Highlands, Dak Lak’s main economy is based on the export of agricultural and forestry products. Local transportation of goods and passengers, mainly by road, accounts for about 95%. Invest in highway construction Khanh Hoa – Buon Ma Thuot It is hoped that it will help connect the Central Highlands with the South Central Coast, creating breakthroughs in economic development and tourism.

The route is 117 km (32.7 km in Khanh Hoa region, approximately 84 km via Dak Lak) with a starting point at the intersection between National Highway 26 and National Highway 1A (Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Hoa) and the end point on the road From Ho Chi Minh City, avoid East Buon Ma Thuot City (Krong Pac District, Dak Lak). It is planned that 56 bridges and three tunnels will be built on the toll road.

In the first stage, the Khanh Hoa – Buon Ma Thuot expressway was built with 4 restricted lanes, a road width of 17 m, and emergency points set up. Then expand to four full lanes with emergency lanes. The project with a total investment of nearly VND 22,000 billion, equivalent to the state budget, will be implemented from 2023 and completed in 2027.

Located entirely in the M’Nong plateau, Dak Nong is an area under construction when it ranks second in the Central Highlands region, in 2021. However, the province only has Ho Chi Minh road and road transportation. a life line that connects provinces and cities.

According to the approved plan, the toll road Dak Nong – Binh Phuoc 212 km long (110 km in Dak Nong, 102 km in Binh Phuoc). The starting point of the route connecting Ho Chi Minh highway (in Dak Lak), the intersection of National Highway 28 (Dak Nong) and the end point connecting Ho Chi Minh road in Chon Thanh district (Binh Phuoc).

The proposed highway has 4 lanes, a base width of 24.75m, and a design speed of 80-100km/h. The two provinces of Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc propose to invest in the route before 2030, in the form of a PPP, with state participation. Currently, the project has not been estimated by the relevant unit.

When established, the Dak Nong – Binh Phuoc toll road will shorten the time to transport goods from the two border provinces bordering Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City, connecting to Long Thanh airport and the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port cluster.
