Chinese cars imported to Vietnam suddenly skyrocketed
(PLO)- The number of specialized cars from China increased four times over the previous month and accounted for 98% of the total number of cars of this type imported to Vietnam.
According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, in February, the number of CBU cars of all kinds registered for import customs declarations increased sharply by 102.3% compared to the import volume of the previous month.
Imported cars in February increased sharply compared to January.
Specifically, the import volume of CBU cars of all kinds in this month reached 9,152 units, equivalent to a value of 212 million USD. Meanwhile, imported CBU cars of all kinds recorded by the General Department of Customs last month reached 4,524 units with a value of USD 127 million.
In February, CBU cars of all kinds registered for customs clearance imported into Vietnam mainly originated from 4 main markets, namely from Thailand with 4,688 units; from Indonesia with 2,592 pieces; from China with 1,033 units and from the United States with 415 units.
In which, the number of cars imported from the Chinese market includes: 211 transport cars; Other cars (specialized cars) have 774 units originating from China, 4 times higher than the previous month and accounting for 98% of the total number of cars of this type imported to Vietnam.
Earlier in January, CBU cars of all kinds registered for customs clearance imported into Vietnam from China reached 584 units. In which, other cars (special-use cars) have 205 units and trucks are 148 units.
According to experts, vehicles imported from the Chinese market are mainly trucks and other specialized vehicles. The reason is that these vehicles imported to Vietnam have cheaper prices than other markets, even lower than cars assembled in Vietnam.
In the 2 months of 2022, the total number of CBU cars imported to Vietnam is 13,690 units, down 25.2% over the same period last year. In which, cars with 9 seats or less were 12,075 units, down 0.7%; transport cars were 569 units, down 87.9%. |
