Choose the right platform for a successful digital transformation

Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Nguyen Huy Dung said that choosing the right digital platform will help businesses transform successfully.

“Choosing the right platform, the right tools for people to see and use is the most important thing, which can create the biggest breakthroughs,” Dung said at the Conference to promote support for small and medium enterprises to transform. number 2022 in Hanoi on the afternoon of March 24.

Some of the popular digital platforms in Vietnam can be called as Mass ASP service accounting platform, Vnpay payment intermediary, Momo e-wallet, 1Office overall management platform, Stringee customer service call center… Each platform serves different business purposes.

According to Mr Dung, digital platforms, when used, will help turn digital technology into a form of service for businesses and are considered as inputs for production. “Digital technology needs to be converted into production inputs, so that business actors can use digital technology such as electricity, water, gasoline, etc. Then digital transformation will be successful,” he said.

Nguyen Trong Duong, Deputy Executive Director of the Enterprise Management Department, said that the Ministry of Information and Communication will choose Vietnam’s excellent digital platform to be integrated into the full digital ecosystem, supporting the digital transformation of medium and large enterprises (SMEs).

Vietnam has about 785 thousand SMEs, accounting for more than 98% of the total number of enterprises in the country. This group employs 70% of the workforce and accounts for 50% of GDP. However, during the pandemic, more than 90% of SMEs were negatively affected. “Digital transformation is key to helping SMEs overcome their ‘pain’. SMEs are businesses that need to be prioritized to support today’s digital transformation,” said Mr Duong.

However, the implementation of digital transformation for SMEs in Vietnam still faces many obstacles.

Mr. Phan Viet Linh, CEO of the company Sao Bac Dau, which provides cloud solutions and office digitization for SMEs, said that one of the difficulties is accessing these businesses, helping them determine their strategy, strategy, orientation of digital transformation. “SMEs operate in many different industries and are spread across the country. Not all businesses have knowledge of information technology, so the most difficult thing is to find their full direction and approach”, said Mr. Linh.

On the business side, Mr. Duong Trong Khang, Secretary General of the Vinh Phuc Business Association, mentioned three main difficulties when deploying digital platforms to SMEs. That is the perception of business owners who have not seen the importance of digital transformation, and have concerns that digital transformation will reveal information. Specialized departments are afraid of losing their jobs when businesses undergo digital transformation, making propaganda difficult. In addition, small businesses often do not have sufficient infrastructure and personnel to operate the new technology.

To overcome the difficulties when deploying digital platforms to SMEs, Mr. Nguyen Trong Duong said that one of the solutions offered was to build the smedx.vn portal. This is where SMEs and platforms can find each other. SMEs will be trained and transferred to standard processes so that businesses can apply technology and restructuring to improve operational efficiency. In 2021, 23 Make in Vietnam digital platforms are included in this program and reach 170,000 SME business owners. The ministry also hopes that by 2022, it will introduce 30 digital platforms, reach 200,000 business owners and support 30,000 SMEs in digital transformation with digital platforms and solutions.
