Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong, Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology, National University of Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the university currently has 8 technology transfer centers operating under a joint-stock company model with sales of around 100-170 billion VND per year. However, Mr Phong said that this model has some problems because it is a specific organization, requires human resources with expertise in technology, law, business, overseas… current policy mechanisms do not have this particular support. “There must be a breakthrough mechanism so that lecturers can more freely establish spin-offs (start-ups). The technology transfer center also needs a more professional operating model,” Assoc said. Phong.
