Don’t send troops to Ukraine!

On March 23, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned that if NATO agrees to Poland’s proposal to deploy peacekeepers to UkraineThis move could cause a military conflict between the US-led military bloc and Moscow.

Foreign Minister Lavrov also stated that Warsaw may wish to establish a foothold in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv and stay there after the conflict ends.

“Why not, they had thoughts like that, and not only in thoughts, this has happened in the past,” he said.

The diplomat also warned the Baltic states against sending their “small battalions” to fight Russian troops in Ukraine. “Our Polish colleagues have announced that there will be a NATO summit now, and that peacekeepers should be deployed. I hope they understand what the boundaries are.”

“This will be a direct clash between the Russian armed forces and NATO, which people not only want to avoid but think it should never have in principle.” he stated.

Earlier last week, the prime ministers of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia traveled to Kiev to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Later, Polish Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczynski stated that NATO should deploy a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine while the EU should give Kiev official candidate status. “I believe a NATO peacekeeping group is needed, which can defend itself and will operate in Ukraine,” he said. Mr. Kaczynski said.

Previously, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson rejected Kiev’s pleas for a no-fly zone over Ukraine, saying it would inevitably lead to a direct clash with Russia. US President Joe Biden also stated that “[Washington] will not go to war against Russia in Ukraine,” warned that a direct confrontation between NATO and Moscow would be the start of World War III.

Russia is now demanding that Ukraine officially declare it a neutral country and will never join the US-led NATO military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian attack is completely unprovoked and denies it is planning to retake the two self-proclaimed republics by force.
