Former fisherman Nguyen Huu Viet passed away

Former fisherman Nguyen Huu Viet suddenly passed away, leaving infinite grief to the sports industry.

On the morning of March 25, a close friend of Huu Viet announced that the fisherman from Hai Phong had suddenly passed away. The former athlete born in 1988 is said to have suffered a stroke.

Before that, on the evening of March 24, Huu Viet went to My Dinh Stadium to watch the match between Vietnam and Oman. However, after returning home, he was gone forever.

Nguyen Huu Viet passed away forever at the age of 34

Nguyen Huu Viet is one of the famous swimmers of the swimming village. The Hai Phong swimmer has helped Vietnam’s swimmers gain a new position in the region with the record of winning the SEA Games 100m breaststroke three times in a row (2005, 2007, 2009), breaking the SEA Games record for this distance in Vientiane on 11th. December 2009 (achievement 1’01″60)

Chinh Huu Viet is the first Vietnamese swimmer to win a gold medal at a SEA Games (2005), quenching his thirst for gold after 44 years of participating in the regional playground.

After retiring, Huu Viet worked as a youth trainer in Hai Phong. His passing at the age of 34 is really a great loss to family, friends and the sports industry.
