iPhone SE 3 and Galaxy A53 5G: Which smartphone is worth the money?

iPhone SE 2022 and Galaxy A53 are newly launched mid-range phones, immediately attracting the attention of many users and placed on the comparison table.

If you’re looking for a phone under $500, the iPhone SE 2022 and Galaxy A53 might be the best options. But which smartphone is worth more “down the money”, let’s see the comparisons below.

Price

The iPhone SE is priced at $429 (64GB), $479 (128GB) and $579 (256GB), while the Galaxy A53 is priced at $449 for 128GB.

Design

iPhone SE has a traditional design with thick bezels and a physical Home button. However, it still exudes a premium look with a glass back and stylish black, white, and red color options.

Galaxy A53 uses a full-screen design with a punch-hole camera and quite thin borders. The plastic back does not feel as luxurious as the iPhone. Samsung offers a variety of color options including black, white, peach, and blue.

The big design difference between iPhone SE 2022 and Galaxy A53 is size and weight. iPhone SE 3 is smaller and lighter with dimensions of 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm, weighing 144g, while the Galaxy A53 is 159.5 x 74.7 x 8.1 mm, weighing 190g.

Screen

iPhone SE 3 uses a 4.7-inch LCD screen with HD + resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. Galaxy A53 has a 6.5-inch AMOLED screen with FHD resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

Galaxy A53 excels in refresh rate, but if you need a phone with a compact size, you should choose iPhone SE 3.

Camera

iPhone SE 3 includes a 12MP rear camera and a 7MP front camera. Apple has upgraded a number of features including Smart HDR 4, Deep Fusion for better details, and Photographic Styles that give more control over the look of photos.

Galaxy A53 has a cluster of four rear cameras including a 64MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP macro and a 5MP depth sensor. This helps the Galaxy A53 capture wide, close-up and portrait photos more effectively. In addition, the Galaxy A53 uses a 32MP front camera.

There’s no guarantee the A53 will take better photos, as Apple’s photography software is also excellent. But at least you’ll have more choices on Samsung’s cameras. In addition, the Galaxy A53 has a night mode, while the iPhone SE 3 is not equipped with this feature.

Efficiency

iPhone SE 3 is equipped with the same A15 Bionic chip as on the iPhone 13, which is considered to outperform even the most powerful Android phones, so it can easily beat the mid-range Silicon Exynos 1280 chip on the Galaxy A53. However, the iPhone SE 3 has only 4GB of RAM while the Galaxy A53 is 6GB of RAM.

iPhone SE 2022 has three options of 64GB, 128GB or 256GB and Galaxy A53 has only 128GB version but can insert a microSD card for more storage.

Both these phones support 5G, providing users with the fastest data speeds.

Battery and charger

Apple has yet to reveal the battery capacity of the iPhone SE, but it is likely to be worse than the 5,000 mAh battery of the Galaxy A53.

As for the charging part, the iPhone SE can charge at up to 20W, fully charging 61% in half an hour. The Galaxy A53 can charge a bit faster at 25W, although it only reaches 50% in 30 minutes due to the larger battery design.

Software

iPhone SE 3 runs on iOS 15, the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system. Galaxy uses Android 12 with Samsung’s One UI 4 interface.

Both operating systems have a lot of features but the most important thing to consider is how long you will get software support. Samsung announced that it will update the operating system for 4 years for the A53 and add one more year of security updates after that. Apple has not confirmed how long it will support the iPhone SE, but typically Apple will support iPhones for 5 years or more before suspending updates.

Overall, Apple and Samsung clearly have different priorities. iPhone SE uses an older and smaller design but is equipped with a powerful A15 Bionic chip. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A53 offers a larger screen with a faster refresh rate along with many rear camera improvements, but has a lower-end chip.

Samsung could be a better option than the iPhone SE in terms of hardware. Users get a bigger screen, battery and storage, plus a better camera. However, iPhone SE 3 also has its own advantages such as compact size, iOS-specific features. While the iPhone SE 3 doesn’t have as many cameras as the A53, Apple’s photography is still good enough for it to win overall.
