Nord Stream 2 company officially filed for bankruptcy in Switzerland
According to Sputnik, Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, will file for bankruptcy in Switzerland.
This is information reported by the Stuttgarter Zeitung newspaper, citing company head Matthias Warnig.
The newspaper stated: “Nord Stream agrees with CEO Matthias Varenik, to file for bankruptcy in Switzerland”
Earlier, after Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, Germany suspended the certification of the Nord Stream 2 project – necessary to start the pipeline.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said the project was indeed “frozen.”
Construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was completed on September 10 of last year. The pipeline was built from Russia to Germany along the bottom of the Baltic Sea with the aim of supplying gas directly to Europe.
EU countries mainly support and participate in the project implementation. Meanwhile, the Baltic states, Poland, the US and Ukraine are the protestors.
