Polish presidential jet makes emergency landing

The plane carrying the Polish president en route to Rzeszow had to return to Warsaw and make an emergency landing due to technical problems.

The press room of Warsaw Chopin International Airport said that the plane carrying President Andrzej Duda made an emergency landing and landed safely at around 1:40 pm (19:40 in Hanoi).

Polish Presidential Chief of Staff Pawel Szrot said the plane encountered a technical problem while en route to take President Duda to Rzeszow, eastern Poland, to meet with US President Joe Biden. He did not provide details of the incident.

Szrot added that Mr. Duda had no dangerous problems. After returning to Warsaw, the Polish President boarded a spare plane to continue on to Rzeszow.

He landed in Jasionka, near the town of Rzeszow, at around 3pm. The meeting between the leaders of the two US and Polish leaders was originally scheduled to take place at 2pm, but Biden had to adjust the schedule after learning that his Polish partner’s flight had problems.

The US president arrives in a city near the Ukrainian border to take a close look at the international humanitarian effort that has taken in millions of refugees from Ukraine. Grandpa biden also visited US troops deployed to eastern Poland to increase their military presence on NATO’s eastern flank.
