He said: “After reading the memoir, I fully understood every word of the work. I hope that one day, Diamond’s life story and monuments like hers will be made into films and television to live forever in the hearts of the public.”

This project is an audio version of the book Live for yourself, live for others – released in 2016. This work is 1,000 minutes long, divided into four parts: Cruel Childhood, Stage and Life, People in My Life, Life and Love. Kim Cuong invited Kim Xuan, Thanh Loc, Huu Chau – close associates – to help him with his memoir. Thanh Loc helped her record a chapter about her enthusiasm for the stage. Kim Xuan’s wife, Kim Cuong, recorded a part about her career as a composer – an area that helped her rise to fame with many classic scripts. Many failed love relationships are also described by Kim Cuong in the new version of his memoir. In chapter Destined lover, he tells a love story with a young judge, both of whom are arranged by the family. Despite her love, she was against him continuing with the acting profession. She resigned, accepting the path of becoming a singer rather than becoming a “mother-in-law”.

In the story of Bui Giang, director Dat Phi – who helped Kim Cuong record his memoirs – asked artist Van Nga to voice the late poet. Kim Cuong remembers Bui Giang’s love for him with great respect. He first met her at the age of 19, when she joined her mother’s reformist group. After several encounters, Bui Giang falls in love with her and proposes to her, but she avoids him. Then, Bui Giang embraced a one-sided love forever, “a feeling that comes from being so innocent, instinctive and unconditional”, as told in the book.

Recording memoirs is Kim Cuong’s passion in the afternoon. Dedicating for 40 years, what he regrets is that in the past, this form of recording and video recording is not as easy and convenient as later. Because of that, he could no longer keep a lot of documents and tapes. “I wanted to record a memoir as a gift to an audience who has followed me for a long time, and also as a way to thank life and ancestors,” he said. Funding for the implementation of this book was sponsored by Gia Vinh – Diamond’s only son. The book will be released for free on digital platforms, periodically by volume, starting March 26.
