The 300m2 garden is planted by Ms. Dung with a variety of flowers, enough for 4 brilliant seasons.

They were both born and raised in Hanoi, but when they went to study abroad in the West, Ms. Dung (common name: Hanni Dee) and her husband met and became predestined. Both graduated with a master’s degree in economics from a leading German university.

Before, family Dung loves and often travels. When she moved to the South of Germany, she and her husband bought a house with a small garden. When the gardener came, the whole family took care of this green space together.

The flower garden of the Vietnamese master couple currently has about 100 roots, which are carefully taken care of every day.

The 300m2 garden is planted with a variety of flowers, enough for 4 seasons so that “the garden is never sad”. When spring came, she planted cherry blossoms, magnolias, wisteria, lilacs, peonies and lots of tulips.

Colorful flowers make the garden always brilliant.

In the summer, the garden is full of roses. In autumn, the trees in the garden turn yellow. Ms. Dung planted more original Canadian and Japanese maple trees to make the space more romantic. In the winter, only the green pine trees surrounding the garden remain, the sparkling white snowflakes are lovely.

Ms. Dung loves taking care of plants and flowers, considering it her hobby.

Because she loves roses, she grows a lot in her garden. From Aloha climbing roses, Sunsprite yellow roses, Botticelli roses, David Austin roses… all show off their brilliant colors. The color of flowers adorns Ms. Dung and her husband with more energy after stressful working hours. This is a wonderful natural space to help her two children learn to love and nurture green trees since they are just sprouts.

The flower garden is a space for her children to play freely.

Ms. Dung takes care of flowers like taking care of a child. In the summer, she gives flowers to “drink” a lot of water. In the cold winter, she goes to the garden to “cover a blanket” for the roots of the trees with straw, dry leaves and a specialized cover to avoid snow. Roses are inherently difficult to take care of, so Ms. Dung pays attention right from the selection stage.

Flowers bloom around June, but from March and April, when the weather warms up, she has started fertilizing the plants to have the power to flower. After the first bloom, she cut off the dead flowers and continued to fertilize them so that the flowers could bloom again in August. “Even though you choose healthy varieties, you can’t avoid taking care of the roses when the plants get sick. At that time, I was also sad and loved the tree very much,” she shared.

In the summer, the garden is full of roses.

In order to “save” the tree, Ms. Dung cut all the diseased leaves and waited for the tree to cope on its own. Then, she used homemade solutions from ingredients available in the kitchen such as dishwashing liquid, baking soda or neem oil to kill thrips. When the flowers bloom continuously, she will cut them into the house and arrange them everywhere. If the flower loses its petals, she puts it in the tub for the children to bathe.

In addition to roses, in her garden, she grows many other types of flowers, varying in season.

Besides favorable weather conditions, Ms. Dung also faced some difficulties during the first time of gardening. For her, the most difficult thing probably lies in maintaining patience. She said: “When planting trees, I can’t want to be fast. I have to wait patiently since the tree is just roots, sprouts, buds and flowers. Or when the tree is sick, I have to replant it from scratch… These things gradually help me learn patience. All these difficulties have trained me to have good qualities.”

In addition to gathering at the dining table or leaning back on the sofa to watch a movie, the garden is the place to help Dung’s family bond. During the epidemic days, everyone took care of and cherished each plant. Parents will cut the tree pruning, or plant new varieties. The kids are excited to help out by pushing the lawn mower or watering the garden. All these details create a “romantic” picture like a fairy tale.

The flowers were picked by her and decorated the room very beautifully and splendidly.

For Ms. Dung, gardening is a hobby, not a demanding job. After every working hour, she maintains the habit of going to the garden to see flowers, and at the same time detects pests and diseases in time to deal with them.

“It only takes about 30 minutes or an hour, but it has become a hard habit of mine,” Dung confided.
