The US State Department said the sanctions will be in effect for two years and they will include restrictions on purchases, assistance and exports.

Earlier on the same day, North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that the country had successfully tested a Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) for the first time since its launch in 2017.
