500 athletes participate in the Ho Chi Minh City traditional boat race

This is a meaningful activity to celebrate the 91st anniversary of the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 – March 26, 2022); 76 years of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946 – March 27, 2022); 25 years since the establishment of District 7 (April 1, 1997 – April 1, 2022) and promoting the campaign “All people practice sports following the great Uncle Ho’s example”.

Mai Ba Hung, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, said that the Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Boat Race in 2022 is an annual sporting event to promote the movement of racing practice. Traditional boats among the people of all classes, and at the same time propagate in the community to join hands to protect the environment of canals and rivers in Ho Chi Minh City.

“The Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Boat Race in 2022 has 500 athletes from 20 sports delegations from sport clubs, departments, branches, social organizations, armed forces, and businesses. in the area and sports clubs from the provinces of An Giang, Binh Thuan, Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai. Athletes will compete with 8 competitions in two classes A and B.” Mr. Mai Ba Hung said.

Athletes competed in the following events: 10-man rower boat, 10-man women’s rowboat, mixed men’s 10-man rower boat, 20 men’s rowing boat, and 20 combined male and female rower’s boat. As a result, in class A: the racing team of Dong Phu district (Binh Phuoc province) won the first prize of 10 men’s boats and 20 men’s and women’s first prizes; An Giang province’s racing team won the first prize in the 10 men’s rowing boat and the 10 women’s rowing boat; Binh Thuan province’s racing team won the first prize in the men’s 20 rowers boat. In class B, the racing team of the Military Command of District 7 won the first prize of the 20 male rowers; The District 7 Education Department racing team won the first prize in the row of 10 male rowers; The racing team of the Military Command of District 12 won the first prize in the 10-man rowing boat and the 10-woman rowing boat.
