Revealing photos of VinFast VF8 testing in Europe
The VinFast VF8 SUV was officially launched at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2021, expected to be sold in the US and Europe this year. Recently, Carscoops discovered a prototype of the VF8 being tested in Europe.
Timothy Banks, a reader of this site, captured a prototype of a VinFast VF8 with camouflage near the IDADA center in Spain. The fact that the car is still “wearing” a layer of camouflage despite the official launch shows that the company may still be refining the car before starting deliveries in Europe in the second half of 2022.
The VinFast VF8 pure electric car has a size similar to the Tesla Model X, using a twin engine, 4-wheel drive with a capacity of 402 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque. The battery capacity of the car has not been confirmed, but the manufacturer says the car will have a range of over 500 km on a single charge.
Users can also choose a version with a single engine 201 hp and a smaller battery pack, a range of about 459 km.
VinFast gives VF8 an attractive design. Right in front is a unique cubic headlight cluster, neatly connected with some silver accents and the VinFast logo in the middle. The car is not equipped with a fake grille like some other EV models. At the rear, LED taillights with a V-shaped design highlight the brand identity element.
Inside, the VF8 will use a horizontal 15.6-inch infotainment screen. The car does not have a traditional digital instrument cluster but has an advanced head-up screen, which displays all important information about the vehicle.
In Europe, VinFast VF8 is priced from 36,133 euros, equivalent to 930 million dong. The above price does not include taxes and ADAS package. In Vietnam, the car has a after-tax price of 1,057 billion VND for the Eco version and 1,443 billion VND for the Plus version.
