The first 10th grader to win the national first prize in Physics

As the youngest contestant in the national team for the National Excellent Student Competition in Physics of the High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences, however, Vo Hoang Hai excellently won the first prize.

In the recent national excellent student competition, the Physics team of the High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences (University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) had 10 students compete and all won high prizes. . In which, there are 4 first prizes, 5 second prizes and 1 third prize.

4 students won the first prize including: Duong Hoang Vu Lam (12th grader), Vu Ngo Hoang Duong (11th grade student), Nguyen Tuan Minh (11th grade student) and Vo Hoang Hai (10th grade student). .

Mr. Nguyen Cong Toan, Vice Principal of High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences, who is also in charge of the school’s Physics team, said that this result was achieved, in addition to the guidance, development and excitement of learning. If the team’s teachers practice in their students, the rest is determined by the unremitting efforts of the participants.

“This year’s team gathered many students with good ability, enthusiasm for learning and a very high spirit of self-study. In addition to following the teacher, the children actively read reference books, including Vietnamese and English books.

They were also inspired by the spirit of their predecessors – a precious tradition of the General team. Also thanks to the transmission of experience, fire and knowledge, the students in the lower class are very energetic and eager to learn.”

Besides, according to Mr. Toan, during the learning process, the students are also actively discussing and studying in groups, ready to criticize and express their views, thereby being able to come up with the best solution together. Find the answer quickly.

This year’s review journey is also very special for both teachers and students, because it is a longer journey than every year (due to the delay of the national exam schedule for excellent students this year) and the impact of the Covid situation. -19; Therefore, the lessons must be flexible between online learning and face-to-face learning.

“Teaching the team is always hard work. The students consume the lessons very strongly and the knowledge content of each lesson is very high. Therefore, the teachers who lead the team themselves also feel “pressure” to fully prepare the lesson for the students.

Winning this result, teachers and students are very happy and proud. However, I also hope that the students will not be complacent but need to make more efforts to continue to conquer new heights of knowledge, especially those who will participate in the second round of the competition to choose the entrance exam. The team will take part in regional and international competitions here”.

Won the national first prize while in grade 10

Among the four students who won the National First Prize in Physics from the High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences, Vo Hoang Hai is the youngest student. She was also the first 10th grader in Vietnam to win the National First Prize in Physics and was selected for the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) team.

According to Mr. Toan, from an early age, Hai showed that he was a student with special qualities in Physics, always eager to learn and actively learning.

“I’ve known Hai since he was in 8th grade. At that time, Hai won the prize in the city competition for excellent students in Physics. In fact, Physics is inherently difficult because it requires not only a thorough understanding of physical phenomena but also the proficiency of Mathematical techniques, diligence, and diligence in learning.

Because of this, there are very few 8th graders who have passed the qualifying round. Seeing Hai’s great potential and passion, I believe that if he is educated in a good environment, he will develop his abilities in the field of physics.”

Indeed, as expected of Mr. Toan, when he was recruited directly and studied at the High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences, Hai affirmed himself and participated in the national Physics team of the school even though he was only a youngster. Grade 10.

“The school often selects the team through many qualifying exams, but in every test, Hai also excels and always has the top score. Even in the test to choose the official team, I also took second place. Therefore, when Hai took the exam, the teachers were not too worried, on the contrary, they felt confident and expected that Hai would achieve good results.

Becoming the youngest member to take part in this exam, Hai said, I was also quite worried because my brothers and sisters had 1-2 years to prepare, and I myself only had a few months to review, so my knowledge of the high school level is still lacking a lot. Therefore, during the sprint period, Hai usually spends about 10-12 hours a day studying Physics.

“But as the exam date gets closer, I don’t think about it much anymore. I study quite comfortably and do not feel tired. Because I love Physics, I always feel happy when I solve a difficult Physics lesson or find a new perspective.

Instead of putting pressure on myself, I try to stay optimistic and see this competition as an opportunity to experience and increase my knowledge.”

Hai admitted that although he was well-receptive, he was still careless in the process of doing the test. “So I feel I still need to make more efforts,” Hai said. Male students also want to be able to overcome this weakness and try harder for the upcoming exams.

Before that, Hoang Hai used to be a pretty prominent name in the junior high school, Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. She has won many awards in domestic and international competitions such as the Gold Medal in the Singapore and Asian Math Olympiad SASMO for 2 consecutive years 2018 and 2019 in Vietnam.

In addition, Hai also won a Silver Medal in the 2018 Singapore and SIMOC Asian Math Olympiad in Singapore; Gold medal in VANDA international science competition in Vietnam in 2019 and Silver medal in VANDA international science competition in Singapore 2019; Bronze medal for the international math competency assessment 2017-2018 IMAS 7;…

Recently, Hai also won a bronze medal at the IZHO International Physics Competition in Kazakhstan.
