Eriksen scored on the day of his return to the Danish national team

After 287 days, Christian Eriksen has officially returned to the pitch in the Danish national team shirt. He was only on the list of substitutes in the friendly match against the Netherlands.

When the Dutch home team led 3-1, coach Kasper Hjulmand decided to throw this 30-year-old attacking midfielder into the field, hoping to help Denmark reverse the situation.

In the 46th minute, Christian Eriksen came on as a substitute to the applause of the entire Johan Cruyff Arena stadium. Just 3 minutes later, he shined with a shot to the roof of the Netherlands after an assist from the right wing of Andreas Olsen. The goal came with the number 10 at the first touch of the ball.

Eriksen’s goal was not enough to help Denmark make a surprise against the Netherlands. The match ended with a 4-2 victory for “Orange tornado”.

Eriksen escaped death, but the implantation of a defibrillator caused him to violate Serie A regulations, and agreed to leave Inter in December 2021. Italy is the only country that bans players from using defibrillators while playing. Eriksen’s career, therefore, was in danger of ending when he was only 29 years old. But in January 2022, Eriksen returned to the Premier League with a six-month contract with Brentford. In the new club shirt, Eriksen played three games, with a total of 218 minutes and contributed one assist. That performance is the premise for Eriksen to be called back to the national team this time.

In the next series of friendlies on March 29, Denmark returned to Parken’s home ground, playing a friendly with Serbia. The Netherlands remained in Amsterdam, receiving Germany.
