Iran asserts right to introduce military equipment

Iran’s ISNA news agency quoted foreign ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh as saying: “Like any other country, Iran has the right (…) to upgrade its defense capabilities or display these products. … in friendly and neighboring countries”.

According to him, the US completely opposes the appearance of Iranian military officials at the exhibition as well as the country’s display of maritime defense weapons.

At the Doha Defense Fair, Iran displayed a large number of models of aircraft, missiles and military equipment.

Currently, the US still maintains strong sanctions on transactions with the Iranian military and especially the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) – which is on Washington’s terrorist list. However, according to Khatibzadeh, the IRGC plays an important role in strengthening Tehran’s defense capabilities.
