Proposing to receive aid of 13.7 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to inject children from April

On March 22, the Ministry of Health worked with the Australian Embassy in Vietnam on supporting Covid-19 vaccines for children aged 5 to 11 years old. Accordingly, the Australian Government has officially committed to providing Vietnam with about 13.7 million doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to inject children aged 5-11 in the first week of April 2022.

Currently, the Expanded Immunization Program is actively coordinating with the Australian Embassy to bring the vaccine back to Vietnam in the next week.

In March 2022, the Expanded Immunization Program will conduct specialized training on the implementation of Covid-19 vaccination for children aged 5-11 for localities across the country, and at the same time guide localities to build develop detailed plans to organize vaccination points.

As soon as the vaccine arrives in Vietnam and is tested for quality and safety, the vaccine will be delivered to localities and organized for vaccination in early April 2022.

In addition to the vaccine support from the Australian Government, the Ministry of Health and the Expanded Immunization Program have also been actively seeking other sources of support from international organizations such as USAID, COVAX Facility and Government. Governments of countries, etc., to soon commit to sponsoring about 8-10 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, meeting the demand for two basic vaccinations for all children aged 5-11.
