Some northern provinces have been sowing the first red bean crop in the commitment to cooperate in purchasing 20,000 tons per year of Japanese enterprises.

The first sowing was in Chieng Sung commune, Mai Son district, Son La province with 10 hectares of trial planting of Japanese red bean varieties on March 26. This is a growing area deployed by Mia Group, Endo Seian Group of Japan, Real Esale Vietnam Company and Chieng Sung Agriculture Company.

Previously, according to the agreement signed at the end of November 2021, Mia Group and Endo Seian agreed to cooperate in the supply of red beans for 5 years with a total transaction value of nearly 800 billion VND. Expected output in the first year of sowing is 2,000 tons per year, in subsequent years it will reach 20,000 tons.

To have this output, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Huyen, Chairman of Mia Group, said that she has set a trial planting schedule in Son La, Ha Giang and Nghe An in March. By April, the planting area will be expanded to 1,000 hectares. Particularly, Mai Son and Van Ho districts of Son La are 100 hectares each. The area of ​​planting areas will continue to expand in the next two years. “Early next month, we will deliver planting in Ha Giang and Nghe An”, Ms. Huyen said.

Endo Seian – one of the three largest red bean companies in Japan – said the country’s demand for red beans is about 40 million tons a year. The domestic agricultural industry can only provide half of the output, the rest must be imported from countries such as China, Thailand, and Canada.
