The eunuch of the Tong family gradually built up trust and became the caretaker of Crown Prince Tuoba Hoang. Although she lost her physiological ability, Tong Ai still had lustful thoughts in her heart. Once, when the crown prince was in the rain with a palace maid, he stood outside to peek. When Tuoba Hoang found out, he was very angry and demoted Tong Ai. Since then, the two have deeply hated each other.

During a hunting trip, Emperor Taiwu Tuoba Dao (the third emperor of the Northern Wei Dynasty) saw that Tong Ai was flexible in mind and worked diligently, so he kept it with him. Tong Ai took care of the emperor very meticulously, was respected by the king and ordained Trung often market, in charge of the king’s daily activities.

Favored, Tong Ai freely manipulated and sought to stabilize her position. According to history, he sought revenge on the crown prince. On the occasion of King Thac Bat Dao’s conquest of the south, Tong Ai denounced two powerful assistants of Crown Prince Thac Bat Hoang, causing the king to execute them. Other assistants in the Eastern Palace of the crown prince were also implicated and sent to the great prison. When Prince Hoang saw this, he was very afraid.

In June/451, more than three months after King Thac Bat Dao returned to the capital, the crown prince was terrified and died at the age of 24. The king deeply regretted drinking alcohol day and night. Tong Ai feared that her crimes would be exposed, so she decided to kill the king.

At the beginning of 452, King Thac Bat Dao once went hunting, was too tired at night, drunk and lost consciousness. Tong Ai found an excuse to kick all the slaves out, then with a trusted eunuch pressed the king’s pillow to suffocate the king.

The royal physician was purchased by Tong Ai, and was afraid of his authority, so he only concluded that the cause of King Tuoba Dao’s death was due to excessive exertion, which made his body weak. After drinking alcohol, he couldn’t stand it. but die. It was unthinkable for a eunuch to be able to kill the king so easily.

King Tuoba Dao died so suddenly that succession was also a problem. If the main road is only Thac Bat Kich, the true grandson (son of Crown Prince Thac Bac Hoang) or the third son of Dong Binh Vuong Thac Bat Han succeeds. However, both of these people, Zong Ai, did not want to establish because he had offended Tuoba Huang, of course he would one day get revenge, and with Tuoba Han he also had a disagreement. He just wanted Tuoba Yu, the sixth son of Tuo Bac Dao, to succeed him because he had a close relationship with this person.

Therefore, Tong Ai sealed off the news of the king’s death and quietly summoned Tuoba Yu to the palace. After that, Tong Ai faked the order of the queen, summoned the ministers to the palace to ambush. Those who opposed Zong Ai were all executed, including Tuoba Han.

Tuoba Yu ascended the throne, made Tong Ai the great squire, the great general, and the great teacher, holding all power in the court. Zong Ai also became the first official in Chinese history to hold power as a king.

Tuo Bat Du knew that he had ascended the throne unjustly, and blatantly used money to subdue the great god. The king was inundated with wine, insatiable play, and rarely asked about the government’s affairs. Tong Ai thinks that he is the “great benefactor” of the king, abuses his power, covers the sky with one hand, tyrannizes tyranny.

At this time, many great ministers advised the king to destroy Tong Ai. The king then secretly summoned his close friends to plot to kill the false gods. Knowing the matter, Tong Ai was extremely angry. On the occasion of Tuoba Yu leaving the city at night, Tong Ai sent someone to assassinate the king. At this time, the new king was in office for more than 7 months.

Tong Ai continued to block information, but one of his confidants revealed the matter to Southern Minister Luc Li. Luc Li secretly welcomed Tuoba Jun into the palace, summoned the military guards, declared Tong Ai guilty of killing the king, and ordered the death penalty. Tuoba Tuan ascended the throne, becoming the 5th king of Northern Wei Dynasty (386-557) when he was 13 years old, known in Chinese history as Emperor Wencheng.
