Hai Lang LNG Power Center Phase I was built in the area of two communes Hai An and Hai Ba in Hai Lang district, located in the energy complex of Southeast Quang Tri economic zone.
With a scale of more than 120 hectares, the project will build the Hai Lang LNG Terminal Warehouse Center (phase 1), receive LNG tankers from 170,000 – 226,000 m3, capacity to receive 1.5 million tons of LNG/year, and the center will receive LNG tankers from 170,000 to 226,000 m3. Hai Lang power center (phase 1) has a generating capacity of 1,500 MW. According to the plan, the project will be put into commercial operation in 2026 – 2027.
Hai Lang LNG Power Center applies new generation gas turbine technology with high power generation efficiency, turning wind into electricity. Therefore, after the operation of Hai Lang Gas Power Center, it is possible to compensate for the instantaneous shortfall in capacity of the system. As a result, Quang Tri will contribute to solving the problem that the proportion of renewable energy sources such as solar power and wind power in the central region accounts for a large proportion and fluctuates with the weather.
Besides, Quang Tri also has a solar power plant on sand. LIG solar power plant has an investment capital of 1,200 billion VND. The factory has a rated capacity of 49.5MWp, annual production power reaches 67.63 million kWh/year.
In addition, Quang Tri currently has 19 wind power projects with a total capacity of more than 671 MW that have been commercially operated. Along with that, Quang Tri is the leading province in the country in terms of total number of wind power projects, total capacity and percentage of projects connected to the commercial grid.
