After Covid-19, a 10-year-old boy in Ha Tinh had a serious multisystem infection

After contracting Covid-19, Tran Trung Q. (10 years old, residing in Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province) was tired, hot, and feverish. Nghe An Obstetrics and Children’s Hospital concluded that he had multi-system inflammation due to post-Covid-19 infection.

Before that, on February 22, Tran Trung Q. was infected Covid-19. After 10 days of treatment, Q. got negative results and went back to school with her friends. However, after that, baby Q. showed symptoms of fatigue, cough, fever, abdominal pain….

Q.’s family took Q. to be examined at a district hospital, but it didn’t help, so he was transferred to a higher level for treatment. On March 27, Nghe An Obstetrics and Children’s Hospital had subclinical indications, the doctor diagnosed Q. with multisystem inflammation (MIS-C) caused by post-Covid-19.

Ms. Le Thi Len, mother of Q. said: “All family members have Covid-19, but only Q. has had a serious change after Covid-19. Medicines to save her son’s life. It’s also very expensive.”

Mr. Nguyen Khanh Hoa, Chairman of Son Hong Commune People’s Committee, said: “Ms. Len’s family belongs to the near-poor household of the commune. The economic life is difficult, so far Quyen’s son has been severely changed after Covid-19”.

Childhood multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C) is a rare but potentially fatal complication that usually occurs 2 to 6 weeks after contracting Covid-19. Many organs in the body including the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin, eyes, digestive organs… are vulnerable.
