When it comes to robots, many people think that it is modern technology that does the hard work for humans. However, the truth is not always like that, there are smart robot inventions that add more fun, fun in life.

Peeling a banana is a seemingly easy task, just peeling a banana, but it requires ingenuity, which is extremely difficult for most robots.

The banana is soft, requires care to remove the peel but does not crush the easily broken inside if the impact is too strong.

Now, researchers from the University of Tokyo, Japan have developed a new robot that ‘unlocks’ this difficult challenge. The robot has two arms, each hand has two fingers to grasp objects.

At first, to ‘train’ the robot, the researchers patiently peeled hundreds of bananas over 13 hours, generating enough data to record and let the robot get used to it.

According to the researchers, given the complexity of the banana peeling task, 13 hours is a feasible time needed.

The robot’s task is divided into 9 stages including holding the banana, lifting it from the place, hitting the top and peeling it. After completing the training, the researchers gave more bananas to the robot to practice. They found that the entire process took less than 3 minutes.

Besides bringing a lot of humour, the researchers hope the technology behind making the robot can be applied in the future to tasks that require fine motor skills.

Before that, the team in Switzerland created a robot that can whip up the perfect sauce. The robot performs actions such as pouring white wine into the sauce mixture, stirring as the cheese melts, and then sprinkling some pepper. Finally, it took a metal spike, pierced the bread, and placed it in a holder for everyone to use the sauce.
